China, World's Largest Nation, Takes Special Interest In World's Smallest

China has agreed to provide Nauru with a loan to build a kindergarten, fix up the island's indoor sports complex and complete a fish-farming project on Nauru's only lake. The protocol covering the funding for the projects was signed in Nauru this week. The amount of money involved has not been disclosed, although Nauru's President Rene Harris described the assistance as generous.
President Harris switched Nauru's allegiance from Taiwan to China 18 months ago during his previous stint as president.
