That's Entertainment?
Marvel dives into its vast library to churn out B-level movies
I'd already given up on my dream of one day making a movie based on the Power Man and Iron Fist comic, especially since Lion's Gate had dibs on one, and John Singleton (!) had dibs on the other (thanks to santo26 for pointing out that my dreams were crushed.) Today, I came across this article, courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, as reported on IMDB, a great movie reference:
Marvel Enterprises is teaming with Lions Gate Entertainment to produce
animated films based on its Marvel Comics superheroes and release them
directly to video, the Wall Street Journal reported today (Tuesday).
The companies initially plan to produce eight films, with the first four
relying on better-known Marvel characters, then begin using "second
tier" characters for the others.
Second tier? Will there be "Antman: The Movie?" Will Nighthawk rise from the dead to make a movie? How about a britcom starring Hugh Grant as Union Jack? I'm genuinely scared, because it's entirely possible that Hollywood could murder every franchise they get their hands on, even ones we never wanted them to touch to begin with.

i have "the essential antman," and believe it or not, they are pretty good. ant man/giant man/ goliath/ yellowjacket was pretty lame until he took on the wasp as his trusty sidekick- the kicker being the wasp is a girl, making it probably the first non- homorerotic superhero/ sidekick relationship. they later ended hooking up of course. it could make for a good movie, perhaps a little too steamy for the kiddies, youknowwhutimeanvern?

that is quite possibly one of the most random things you've ever stated having owned. I thought all superhero teams were supposed to be gay...but yeah, maybe Vivid Video will hook up with Marvel and produce that shit. Tera Patrick as Wasp Girl, anyone?
