God Bless the Boston Herald. No one, with the possible exception of the Athenaeum,no one has been as dogged as the local tabloid in pursuing the latest hard-hittng Cat Lady news. Not content to report only on issues of local and national import the Herald has published a Pulitzer-worthy expose of the tragic end to the relationship shared by the Horse Lady and the Cat Lady.

"[T]he Cat Lady, Heidi Erickson of Boston, and the Horse Lady, Patricia Pina of Plympton, became an unlikely pair of friends. They pored over law books together, made the rounds at several courts and even embarked on a short-lived fish breeding venture...

Pina, a black hermaphrodite whose race- and gender-based discrimination claims against Plympton officials have led to a federal investigation, says the cat breeder approached her at a courthouse one day. They became friends...

But the friendship crumbled last month in a bitter fight along I-495, Erickson claims, after she criticized Pina for reading the Bible while driving.
