Kennewick Man Now Being Studied By Scientists
from Yahoo! News
One of the most interesting archaeological discoveries of recent times, the Kennewick Man, is being studied by scientists. The Kennewick Man is the name given to a skeleton found in 1996 by the Columbia River. The skull has what appear to be European facial features and has been dated at 9000 years old, making it one of the oldest skeletons ever found in North America. Since the discovery of the Kennewick Man, Northwest Native American tribes have wanted to get the skeleton buried without any scientific analysis being conducted. Scientists sued to analyze the skeleton and won, as no link was found between the tribes and the skeleton. Once the study is completed, it could change the way the world thinks about the migrations and explorations to North America.
