When I was a kid, Reagan was the first President I ever remembered. When I think of my mental image of the President, I think of this Santa- esque figure who I believed in when I was younger but then I realized he was lying about Iran- Contra and I stopped believing.

And when the Challenger blew up, my friend's sister wrote a letter to Reagan and he personally responded and it is still framed in their parents' house. Did you know he considered answering mail from children one of his favorite parts of being President?

And now we begin the glacial process of taking this man and turning him into a Jesus/ Elvis- type legend...Reagan is dead, and there is no way I can deny that I am not a kid anymore.

I never liked him, always felt he was a huge phony personally. He did have the great ability to connect with the world, something our current leader has no chance of ever doing.

A great American, A great President - he made the masses proud to be from this great country. My political conservatism is due in large part to his presidency and for that I am grateful. He will be missed
