Students Walk Out, Protest Proposed Immigration Laws
from LA Times and Telemundo LA
I turned on the TV this morning and I see news copter footage from South Gate in LA and Phoenix of students walking out protesting the proposed immigration laws currently before Congress. They want to criminalize immigrants and build a wall? WHAT? And the only people who seem to care are these students and the groups they sympathize with who are holding a rally tomorrow?
Can I speak here for a second as a person who was born and raised in Massachusetts to these freaks "guarding" the Mexican border? I am beyond pissed off that you are calling yourselves "Minutemen." The Minutemen stood up for democracy that April morning and their actions helped to create the United States of America. Did you know that many of the people who fought for America's freedom were immigrants, many of whom came to this country illegally? And what of those people in Texas and Arizona and New Mexico, the descendents of immigrants who squatted in that land and provoked a war with another country to get it? How many of us who currently live on North and South America say we are not descended from immigrants?
Call yourself something else.

Here is a link to the text of the bill in question HR4437. The bill was passed in the House at 10:30 on Friday night 12/16/05, and was passed by a vote of 239-182 with 13 abnstentions.
If you click the above link, you can see how your Congressman voted. My Representative, Xavier Becerra voted against it. If this isn't an example of Congress passing shady legislation in the middle of the night, then what is?
